Sri Lanka is one of the few countries with a very vast and rich cultural diversity. It includes a lot of customs and rituals which date to more than 2500 years, which were handed down from generation to generation. Sri Lankans arts and crafts are largely influenced by its Buddhist culture. Cave and Temple painting is a unique feature found in Sri Lanka. Our target with this itinerary is to take you on a luxurious tour of Sri Lanka and make it a memorable vacation for you.
Day 1 – Negombo
The itinerary will begin with at Bandaranaike International Airport, there Dream Island Lanka representor greet you and you will be driven to the city of Negombo, which is near the waterfront, the remains of the 17th-century Dutch Fort, now house a prison. Negombo Lagoon, lined with fishermen’s huts, feeds into the Dutch-era Hamilton Canal. Your first night in Sri Lanka stays at Heritance Negombo.
Day 2 – Habarana
On the next after a sumptuous breakfast you will be heading to Habarana, on the way you will stop at Yapahuwa ancient Kingdom, Yapahuwa served as the capital of Sri Lanka in the latter part of the 13th century (1273–1284), and once we arrive at Habarana, will check in to Habarana Village by Cinnamon.
Days 3 & 4 – Anuradhapura
Following day morning after breakfast you will be heading to Anuradhapura, which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. En route to Anuradhapura, you will be visiting the ancient and historical city of Polonnaruwa and then check in to Ulagalla By Uga Escapes resorts for a couple of nights.
Next morning you will explore the ancient city of Anuradhapura by bicycle, where you will discover several historical ruins. Then you will be driven to Minneriya, there will be scheduled up a jeep safari at Minneriya national park, After onwards back to the hotel for night stay.
Day 5 – Sigiriya
After a nice breakfast, you will go to explore the impressive Sigiriya Fortress. Climb the Lion Rock, is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka, this activity is quite achievable for most people, so don’t panic of climbing the rock, then we have lined up village tour by cart. Later, you will check in to Hotel Sigiriya.
Days 6 & 7 – Kandy
Today you will be driven to Kandy en route you visit a Golden temple of Dambulla, which is a world heritage site in Sri Lanka. Then we head to the city of Kandy where you will check in to The Grand Kandyan hotel, in the evening you can entertain the cultural dance show of Kandyan’s which is starting by 17.30. Then you will be returned back to the hotel.
Next morning you will visit triple temple loop called the Gadaladeniya, Emmakke and Lankathilaka temples, are the three temples dedicated to the teaching of Buddha, these are some of the most important cultural places. Afterwards, return to the Grand Kandyan Hotel for your night stay.
Days 8 & 9 – Nuwara Eliya
On the day eight morning, we will show you the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, the most important religious site in Sri Lanka. After you will move on to Nuwara Eliya. The central highlands are known for their specific climate. You will be excited on a wind road through the tea plantation. On the road, you will come across diverse waterfalls. We have lined up for you to visit Ramboda waterfall, once you reach Nuwara Eliya will check in to Araliya Green Hills for a couple of nights.
The following day morning you will be visiting Pedro Tea Factory, originally built in 1885 and still packed with 19th-century engineering. There you get a piece of knowledge about the whole process about tea planting to consumption. As well as you will have a tour of Nuwara Eliya, which is nicknamed Little England. Then you will back to the hotel.
Day 10 – Ella
Next morning you will be driven to Nanu Oya, where you are embarking on one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. when you reach to Ella, you have an opportunity to see an impressive natural feature at Ravana Ella waterfall. Day ten-night stay will be at Hotel Jetwing Kaduruketha.
Days 11 & 12 – Hambanthota
On day eleven you will be checking out from Jetwing Kaduruketha, then you will be driven to Hambanthota, there you will enjoy exciting beach paradise, on the way to Hambantota you will be able to explore the Hummanaya blowhole and it is considered to be the second largest blowhole in the world. And from there you will check in to Amanwella Resort Tangalle. On day twelfth you are totally free for relaxation, after a good 10 days travelling non-stop around Sri Lanka.
Days 13 & 14 – Colombo
Day thirteen after checkout you will be driven to the city of Galle, Galle has been building its rich culture through the colonial eras of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British. There you explore the Galle city and Galle fort, then we are heading to the capital of Sri Lanka, your night stays at Galle Face Hotel. Next day morning you can shop in the capital as well as explore the city, this luxury cultural tour brings you to the end and then you will be driven to the Bandaranayake International airport depending on the time of your flight.
